Institute of Certified NZ Bookkeepers

It is certainly conference season!

I’m still smiling and reminiscing about #Bookkeepcon18. Seeing everyone and having time to catch up was awesome, Dan and I had a blast.

I wrote a blog reflecting on the conference while on the plane back home to Christchurch on Sunday morning. Have a read here.

Conferences such as #Bookkeepcon are so fast-paced that it can be easy to get caught up in the experience, but it is important to keep the momentum going after the fun is over. We are usually feeling quite inspired and ‘pumped’ after a conference, and have great intentions to put our new learnings to work, but slip quickly back into our old patterns.

My recommendation is that you focus on the two take outs you want to implement, and keep them on top of mind until you try them out – this will give you a real return on investment.

Of course, the next conference on our calendar is Xerocon Brisbane, not many sleeps now!

A reminder to pack your business cards, comfortable shoes and chargers. There will be plenty of charging stations around, however I personally won’t be without my battery pack. It can be frustrating to see the ‘low battery’ warning notification when you’re in a big space like Xerocon.  If you want to be organised and pick up one of our Xero-branded battery packs before the day, please visit our Xero store. You’ll be able to buy them at Xerocon too.

After being to every Xerocon Down Under, I can also highly recommend keeping hydrated (not just vino and coffee). You are on the move, which is great for the steps, however along with talking and air conditioning it is important to keep up the good old H20.

For those of you who are not joining us this year, keep up with the action on Twitter – @xero and #xerocon. There will also be regular updates on the Xero Blog.

Also a reminder about Xero Roadshow NZ 2018, kicking off on 16 October. We’ll be travelling the country, stopping in at all the main center’s and some regions. Registrations have been fantastic so far, so don't miss out. The presentations and sessions we’ve lined up are looking really good.

It will be great to see you at Xerocon or a Roadshow.

All the best for the beginning of spring.
