Hi Members 

A month in from Inland Revenue reopening their doors on their new platform and the chaos is settling, leaving us to get on with the job at hand. It has been a huge few weeks dealing with the aftermath that comes with any new technology; frustration, pain, change. It brings these with it, and I am starting to feel a sense of calm within the membership as more and more time passes (and in my own office...).  Change is never easy, and I recall writing a blog on it in April last year. It’s interesting isn’t it, some thrive on change, and others resist it wholeheartedly. 

A huge thank you to the team at IR for listening, supporting and actioning assistance at a speedy rate, and to those members who have been involved with this for the benefit of all Bookkeepers.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of all our members for your time and energy to make these things happen.  

Hopefully this month you are getting the opportunity to catch your breath and take a step back from the craziness of end of financial year, and checking you are on track with your goals and visions for your business and your personal life.  I see there has been a lot of you advertising for staff so therefore growing your businesses. This only reinforces that Bookkeeping is certainly not a dwindling profession with the advent of technology, AI and machine learning is it?  We have always maintained the role of a bookkeeper will never disappear; so long as you are agile and keep abreast of the changes in the marketplace.  The role constantly evolves, as do many jobs, and business owners are busy doing what they do well. They still don't necessarily want to know how it all works, they just want it done by someone they trust has their best interests at heart – and that is you.
