The New Zealand Bookkeepers Association, trading as the Institute of Certified NZ Bookkeepers, was founded in 2010
Our story began when a group of likeminded bookkeepers saw the need for an Association that provided information and support for NZ Bookkeepers.
Before the association was founded, there was very little in the way of help or recognition in New Zealand for bookkeepers. It was decided that in order to raise the professional profile of bookkeepers in New Zealand an organisation was needed that could develop standards, provide guidelines and educate and support the bookkeeping community. It also needed to provide bookkeepers opportunities for continued professional development within their field.
The Constitution adopted by the Founding Committee formed the structure of our current operations and continues to govern the Executive Committee today. It covers:

The NZ Bookkeepers Association, trading as the Institute of Certified NZ Bookeepers, is a Registered Incorporated Society. The purpose of the association is to increase public aware of its existence and to create rules for our members around professional bookkeeping behaviour and standards. The association is committed to providing members with support, both formal and informal, and learning opportunities to ensure the ongoing professional development of the individual and the profession.
