Certified Bookkeeper

For those members who are actively practising Bookkeeping in New Zealand

Prerequisites

  • Members must reside in New Zealand or either operate a business in New Zealand, or be employed by a business that operates in New Zealand
  • Successful completion of the initial Certified Bookkeeper assessment
  • No convictions for fraud

Certified Bookkeeper membership is designed for those members who are actively working as Bookkeepers and wish to continue their professional development path. It acts as an assessment platform to assess the competency of individual members and also provides potential clients with the confidence as to a members level of Bookkeeping knowledge.

This membership gives you access to tools and resources designed to help keep you up to date with the latest industry developments and compliance requirements, along with invites to attend regional meetings in your area where you can network and build relationships with other bookkeepers and industry partners. As a Certified Bookkeeper you will be able to create a FREE Find a Bookkeeper listing on our website to promote yourself to potential clients.

In order to maintain the our 'Professional' status, a Certified Bookkeeper is required to complete 100 points of Continuing Professional Development per membership year with our support and guidance. To find out more about our CPD requirements, click here >

Employee Certified Bookkeeper Membership

If you are employed by an Accredited Bookkeeping Business member, you may be eligible to apply for Employee Certified Bookkeeper Membership.  To view more information on this option, click here >

Development pathway

Membership begins with the black level certification and, upon successful completion, allows you to apply for Certified Bookkeeper™ membership. Once this initial level has been achieved you are encouraged to progress through the certification levels at your own pace, all of which demonstrate increasing knowledge and proficiency in the bookkeeping field.

Associate Membership

For those members who are not actively practising bookkeeping in New Zealand 

Prerequisites

  • Members must reside in New Zealand or either operate a business in New Zealand, or be employed by a business that operates in New Zealand
  • No convictions for fraud

Associate membership is for those who would like to become a Certified Bookkeeper™ but are not yet ready to sit the certification test, or you may want to have membership but either have no need to maintain CPD, or are not currently working as a bookkeeper.

Membership enables you to access tools and resources designed to help keep you up to date with the latest industry developments and compliance requirements, along with invites to attend regional meetings in your area where you can network and build relationships with other bookkeepers and industry partners.

Student Membership

For students who are looking to get started in the profession and commencing studies

Student membership allows access to tools and resources to assist you in your studies. It will help keep you up to date with the latest industry developments and compliance requirements and you will receive invites to attend regional meetings in your area where you can network and build relationships with experienced bookkeepers and industry partners.

Life membership

A life member is an individual honoured for meritorious services to the Association over a period of 5-8 years cumulative and after recommendation by the Executive Committee and elected as a life member by a motion at a General Meeting passed by a two-thirds majority.

Life members have all the rights and privileges of other Members and shall be subject to all the duties of individual Members (but no duty to pay subscriptions and levies).
